Louisa Peng (Liang-Yi Peng), originally from Taipei, Taiwan, holds a Performer Diploma in Collaborative Piano (P.D.C.P) at the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University under the tutelage of Dr. Aram Arakelyan, Dr. Chih-Yi Chen in instrumental studies, and Dr. Kimberly
Carballo and Dr. Charles Prestinari in vocal studies. She has earned a Master of Music degree in Collaborative Piano at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette studying with Dr. Yuling Huang-Davie, and a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance at Illinois State University studying with Dr. Geoffrey Duce. She is a full graduate assistantship recipient in all the above graduate schools. Her Bachelor in Music degree in Piano Performance is from the University of Taipei with Dr. Eric Chen.
Between 2022 and 2024, Louisa Peng worked primarily with instrumentalists in her graduate studies at the Indiana University as well as the summer music programs, Atlantic Music Festival and the Castleman Quartet Program. Peng was hired by the IU Ballet Department as their pianist, playing for the major, elective, and pre-college classes. She was praised for her musicality, improvisation skills, and warm personality.
Louisa Peng was the winner of the Concerto Competition and Hanley Piano Competitions at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 2021 and 2022. In addition, she was lauded for her contributions to the School of Music, serving as a representative for the Graduate Student Organization and graduating summa cum laude. She was the teacher of record for undergraduate class piano at both the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and Illinois State University. She was also appointed as the pianist for orchestra, opera, musical theatre, and several vocal and instrumental studios while studying in both institutions.
Having appeared in recitals and concerts as a soloist and a collaborative pianist, Louisa Peng remains an active performer. In recent years, as a pianist and music coach, she has performed the operas La bohème and Die Fledermaus with the Midwest Institute of Opera (MIO), and musical theatre productions including The Light in the Piazza, Guys and Dolls, Beauty and the Beast, Mamma Mia!, How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying, and A Masked Ball for numerous organizations including schools and community theaters companies.
Louisa Peng will reside in East Tennessee with her husband, Timothy Loman.
